Ermysted's Grammar School

Admissions Policy

Ermysted’s Grammar School is a voluntary aided, selective grammar school for boys aged 11-18. ’s admissions. The Governors of the School are responsible for the admissions of pupils to Ermysted’s Grammar School and welcome applications from parents of boys who live in Skipton and further afield. The Local Authority operates a selection scheme for prospective pupils into Year 7 using NFER Verbal and Non-verbal tests. Details of all the arrangements are to be found in “A Guide for Parents: Admission to secondary school 2012-2013” which is available by contacting the Harrogate Education Office on 01609 533679. (The new guide is usually available from June onwards).

The closing date for applications for September 2013 is likely to be Friday 17 August 2012 but parents are advised to check with the Admissions Team nearer the time.


Important dates for September 2013 entry



17 August 2012– closing date for out of area applications for testing and closing date for in area withdrawal.
7 September 2012– Familiarisation Test here at school for all out of area boys.
11 & 14 September 2012– First and Second Selection Tests.
17 October 2012– results of Selection Tests posted to parents.
31 October 2012 all Common Application Forms (CAF) to be completed.
