Ermysted's Grammar School - School House

Archives

The ‘Out of the Archive’ site is devoted to the history of Ermysted’s Grammar School and the development of it's archive collection, housed in the School.

Current articles and features:

Articles that appear here are constructed, primarily, from the sources of evidence contained in this Archive.

Ermysted’s Archive is presided over by Douglas Grant, the ex-head of History, aided by Steven Howarth, the current head of History.

It is hoped that this website will help create more interest in the long history of Ermysted’s. It is also hoped that it will encourage holders of relevant materials to deposit them in the Archive. Do you have photographs, exercise books, memorabilia or personal reminiscences? Copies of valued items would be similarly welcomed.

We are particularly keen to receive information pertaining to Old Boys who served in the two World Wars. Steven Howarth is currently researching the Old Boys killed in the Great War [see article on ‘Thomas Bellamy’ and ‘Roll of Honour 1914-18’] and is keen to hear from relatives who may have family records. The intention is to publish a centenary memorial booklet about the School’s part in the Great War.

Unfortunately, the Archive at the School is unable to give direct access to researchers, but we will endeavour to do our best to meet requests for information.
